Chris Pratt hyped up his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 co-star Will Poulter’s performance as Adam Warlock.
The long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 screened its first exclusive footage to the Hall H crowd at San Diego Comic-Con last Saturday. Not only did attendees get a glimpse at what Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the gang are up to following Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, but they also got a first look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock.
Ever since Adam Warlock was teased in one of the mid-credits scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans have speculated who would end up playing the role. Will Poulter was not a popular choice amongst fans’ lists, but James Gunn acknowledged in Hall H last Saturday that he believes that he is the only actor who could truly bring the role to life. And if you were to ask Chris Pratt, he also believes Poulter has the right stuff.
In an interview with Fandango at San Diego Comic-Con, Chris Pratt sung the praises of his “little brother” Will Poulter, comparing his experiences in getting cast as Star-Lord to Poulter’s casting as Adam Warlock:
“That guy has got such charisma. I’m so proud of him. He did a great job. He’s an awesome Adam Warlock. He looks incredible. He, as an actor, Will, completely so dedicated, worked his ass off. He reminded me sort of like when I got cast as Star-Lord. This sort of transformation that was expected, the discipline around it, the eagerness to do it, and his willingness to go… And look at him. He just did such a great job…
I feel like a big brother or something. I’m so proud of my little brother, watching him… I’m just watching him on set and I’m like, ‘Dude, I know what you’re going through and you’re killing it.’ And then the part of me in the back of my mind is like, ‘This is going to be so great for the movie.’ So he’s just so good. He’s so good. He’s so funny, so natural, and he’s a physical specimen. So he’s, yeah, we’re so good. People are going to love his character.”
The end of the Guardians as we know them?
James Gunn has previously acknowledged that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the conclusion that he had envisioned for this team since he began with the first film. It is unknown what the future holds for these characters following the release of this film, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios wants to keep Chris Pratt as Star-Lord for future projects as well as Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, especially given that this will be the character’s first outing in the MCU.
Chris Pratt was last seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis:
Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
